Crispy flounder fillets
Catching area
We catch our European flounder primarily in the North Sea, but since there is not a lot of flounder left in the North Sea we also have whole flounder available which is caught in the Baltic Sea. Most of the times we catch the fish ourselves by our own Dutch fishing fleets. Afterwards we only take the best ones and process and freeze them immediately. However, sometimes we let the fisheries in Poland catch our flounder.
Most of the flavour from the crispy flounder fillets come from the breading, but within this breaded crust you can still taste the delicious, delicate and mild flesh of the flounder fillets. One hundred grams of crispy flounder fillets contain around 205 calories. They also contain a lot of proteins and iron, just like every fish does. However, unlike most fish products, crispy flounder fillets contain some carbohydrates too because of the breading. Crispy flounder fillets contain some vitamins too, including the vitamins B11 and B12.
Flounder is especially a popular fish in Eastern-European countries. But nevertheless they are also eaten in other countries. We export a part our crispy flounder fillets to the countries Denmark, Israel and Poland. The other part is sold to several institutes in the Netherlands. Crispy flounder fillets can be served in various ways. They are often served with vegetables, such as broccoli or green peas. However, crispy flounder fillets can be served with potato wedges or roasted tomatoes too. Another way to serve the breaded fillets is to serve them with a sauce or lemon wedges. This will make it even more delicious than it already is!
